How to Make Lightsaber Pretzel Rod Treats
We made these for May The 4th for the last two years. They are actually pretty easy.
Use any brand of large pretzel rods for the base.
For the blue lightsaber melt some bakers white chocolate in the microwave according to directions on the package.
Follow the same for the red Sith/chocolate lightsaber. You do not need to add food coloring to the chocolate.
Stir in some blue food coloring. Then, using a small craft sized paint brush, coat most of the pretzel rod with the chocolate. Make sure you leave some uncoated for the handle.
Not pictured – Evenly cover each chocolate coated rod with sugar sprinkles. You will need to hold the rod over a plate and shake the sprinkles around the rod to coat before you lay it down on a parchment covered cookie sheet. Use blue sugar sprinkles for the blue/Jedi lightsaber and red for chocolate or red/Sith lightsaber
If the chocolate starts to cool and stiffen just put it back in the microwave for 15 or 20 seconds and you can continue to coat the rods with it.
Place your coated pretzel rods on a parchment paper covered baking sheet to dry. put a small amount of melted chocolate on a red M&M to mimic the activation button. keep them in cool dry place for at least two hours before serving.
I could not get you a photo of putting on the colored sugar since I was home alone when I made these. If I was a Jedi I could have used the force. Enjoy, I hope you try to make these yourself. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need any help.
May the Force be with you…always
